Animation Division

Studio ONI specializes in animations that blend digital and analog ink wash painting techniques to create a traditional Japanese aesthetic. Our unique style is showcased in projects like the feature-length animated film Operation ONI, as well as short animations for commercials, music videos and corporate promotional videos.

Art Division

At Studio ONI’s Art Division, we offer a diverse range of artistic services, including traditional ink wash and watercolor paintings, sophisticated ink-brush portraits, hybrid digital and analog art, website and app design, LINE stickers, miniatures, and illustrated books. We also produce live drawing events. Every project is crafted with care, aligning closely with your visions to bring your ideas to life.

Hiroshi Takane

CEO, Founder, Executive Producer, Director, Scriptwriter and Editor

Hiroshi Takane, a Tokyo-born creative leader, brings over 18 years of expertise in storytelling and advertising. As the CEO and founder of Studio ONI Ltd., he pioneers the fusion of traditional Japanese artistry and hand-drawn animation, delivering captivating works with global appeal.

A graduate of the Japan Academy of Moving Images with a specialization in screenwriting, Hiroshi honed his craft under Japan’s cinematic masters. His career began with the critically acclaimed 428: Shibuya Scramble, and he has since penned scripts for iconic titles such as Fire Emblem. Additionally, his contributions to major advertising campaigns for NHK, LEXUS, SONY, Wacoal, BABYMETAL, and Granblue Fantasy showcase his versatility across mediums.

At Studio ONI, Hiroshi pushes creative boundaries, producing works that seamlessly blend traditional techniques like sumi-e with contemporary animation styles. His vision continues to inspire audiences, both in Japan and around the world.

Sho Hosokawa

Vice President, Executive Producer, Background Artist and Art Director

Sho Hosokawa is a renowned Japanese ink painting artist, celebrated for his mastery of traditional sumi-e. He serves as the Vice President and Executive Producer at Studio ONI Ltd., where he also works as the Producer and Art Director for the ink-painting animated film Operation ONI. A self-taught artist, Sho has garnered a global following, earning the affectionate title “SUMI GOD” from admirers of his exceptional craftsmanship.

His popular sumi-e YouTube channel, Turara An, boasts over 49,000 followers, with new viewers visiting every day.

Vice President, Producer, Action Director, Lead Animator, Character Designer and Vice Director

Kinosuke Rakuga is the Vice President, Lead Animator, Action Director, and Producer at Studio ONI Ltd. in Japan, where she is currently working on the ink-brush animated film Operation ONI. Known for her strong sense of responsibility and deep passion for animation, Kinosuke leads a global team with excellent leadership skills and an infectious, bright smile. Her work uniquely blends traditional Japanese digital brush strokes with dynamic action, bringing graceful, beautiful movement and powerful, lively sequences to life. This distinctive style has earned her widespread recognition both domestically and internationally.
